Our Story

Helping Seniors Thrive (HST)

HST was established to tackle the significant challenges facing seniors in our communities. Our team comprises individuals who have firsthand experience dealing with the lack of resources for essential needs such as food, transportation, and medical care. We’ve engaged with seniors living in isolation and witnessed their struggles. Our mission is to address these urgent issues, especially in underserved areas. With over a hundred years of combined experience, we are confident that our knowledge, compassion, and dedication to seniors set us apart. Together, with your support, we can Help Seniors Thrive!

With eighteen years of experience as a financial professional and a Certified Financial Educator, Aleta has helped seniors navigate Medicare, long-term care, retirement planning, and other financial matters crucial to their well-being. Her passion for supporting seniors stems from her work in the field, where she gained a profound understanding of the unique challenges they face. Aleta is driven by a commitment to improve the lives of older adults.

Mack Bennett

Board Chair

Mack Bennett has decades of experience in oil, gas, and data management, excelling in business leadership and strategic consulting. Known for his integrity and collaborative approach, his career has been driven by a deep desire to create lasting, positive change. After 15 years of retirement, Mack’s passion for helping others led him to become the Board Chair of Helping Seniors Thrive (HST), where he works to improve the lives of underserved seniors, continuing his mission to make a meaningful impact.

Lemel Jones

Board Secretary

Lemel is a dedicated veteran and seasoned program manager, known for her exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and partnership development skills. With over thirty years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, she has consistently driven impactful change, finding fulfillment in the smiles of those she serves. Her unwavering commitment to empowering others has made her a trusted and influential leader in the nonprofit sector.

Penny Scott

Treasurer

Penny is a seasoned accountant with 38 years of expertise in corporate accounting, specializing in Cash Management. Recognized for her commitment to excellence, integrity, and accountability, she consistently upholds the highest standards in her work, ensuring financial operations are both efficient and transparent. Her extensive experience and unwavering dedication make her a reliable leader in her field.

Margie Esquivel

Board Member

Margie Esquivel has always been passionate about helping others. With over 25 years of experience as a real estate agent and licensed insurance professional, she has dedicated her career to assisting older adults with housing and insurance needs. Recognizing a crucial gap in the community, Margie works closely with attorneys to help seniors navigate the process of planning for asset transfer. As an active community member and lifelong advocate for seniors, Margie is deeply committed to improving the lives of others.
